“Your response seems to be that Assad does not use terror — which is, simply put, false.”

You are wrong in two different ways here:

  1. You are wrong in claiming that I’m saying Assad does not use terror. I am saying it’s impossible for us to know what he is or what he’s done. He might use terror, there’s just no solid, trustworthy reason to believe that he does. All we know for certain is that we are being lied to about him. I can tell you that I have had many Syrians thank me for writing this article; if you’re under the illusion that there’s a consensus among Syrians that Assad uses terror, I’d recommend going and talking to some of them.
  2. You are wrong to say with any degree of certainty that Assad uses terror. You do not know. There’s too much propaganda in the air to know such a thing. All we know is that we are being lied to about Syria. That’s the only place we can take a solid stand.
