That’s pedantry; per definition retracting is exactly what NYT did. The only reason they labeled it a “correction” is because their false claim wasn’t central to their story, not because it was anything less than 100% demonstrably false as you seem to be implying.

I didn’t cite Fact Check in my article. If you are referring to Politifact’s explanation, you need to re-read it; all they do is clarify that they wrote their article about Clapper’s original statement, which was premised on the false claim that Clinton’s assertion was true because Clapper “speaks on behalf of” all 17 agencies, and which is soundly debunked in this article.
