Nonsense. Western powers had every ability to avert this war with peaceful negotiations and did literally nothing toward that end. Saying "don't do war" is not "diplomacy", and it isn't negotiating for peaceful resolutions. Russia sought very reasonable concessions and they should have been made. Honoring the Minsk agreements and no NATO membership was completely reasonable.
