Here Are Some Alternate Ways To Sponsor Me If Patreon Is Acting Up For You

Patreon has been famously having some issues with declined patron payments, which is frustratingly showing up as a loss of $1,266 for me this month.

If your Patreon payments aren’t going through, or if you’d like to become a patron of my weird little crowd-funded operation here, I’ve put together a list of the different routes through which people can support me besides Patreon, along with the various advantages and disadvantages of each.

(Also if you can’t support my work financially, sharing my stuff around and bringing energy and enthusiasm to things I publish goes a long long way to help here too.)

Send to PayPal here

Pros — It’s an easy way to send a one-off payment.
Cons — Although they are not as eye-watering as Patreon, the fees are quite high. PayPal also sometimes likes to pull the plug on people for committing wrongthink.

Pros — The fees are about the same as PayPal and offers us some stability in paying bills, as it is a consistent monthly sum that we can count on.
Cons — We can’t set it to pay-as-you-feel pricing; there are only a few different price points to choose from.

Direct bank deposit

Pros — The fees are very low. You can set up a scheduled payment in your bank app that you are completely in control of.
Cons — For anyone outside Australia it can be a bit fiddly to work out how to send money overseas.
